ARRIVAL OF THE ETERNAL KING.
Gospel of Mark 13:35 - 36 proclaims 'Therefore, keep awake -- for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening or at midnight, or at cockcrow or at dawn, or else, he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly.'
As we prepare ourselves for the arrival of our 'Eternal King,' let us not get lost in the superficial preparations, but be alert to the tiniest promptings of the Holy Spirit - in thoughts, words and deeds.
Regarding thoughts, Mark 7:21 proclaims 'For from within, out of the heart of man come evil thoughts...' Let us keep our thoughts as mentioned in Philippians 4:8 'Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.'
Our words have creative power. Just as God demonstrated when He created the universe with His words, we too have the authority to do the same here on earth. Let us prayerfully take control of our tongue and refuse to speak anything other than the Word of God about our life or situation. Prayer - Psalm 141:3 Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.
'Word' verbally communicates the message about God's love through Jesus and 'Deeds' show God's love through practical acts of service and mercy. We cannot say we have faith and avoid working to promote God's love. James 2:17 says, 'Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, by itself.'
Let us enjoy a blessed and grace filled season of Advent.
